the story
Sarah grew up in Houston, TX. Her interest in wildlife began in her childhood days at her family’s cabin in the country and continued as a teenager, embarking upon EarthWatch, NOLS and Outward Bound adventures. She then went on to study wildlife biology at the University of Vermont. However, it’s hard for some Texans to leave Texas, so she transferred to UT to be a Longhorn with her friends, where she wound up graduating with an English degree. During her final months of school, Sarah found the love of her life, got married, and after their first daughter turned one in 2004--out of nowhere--without any running experience--she decided to take on a marathon. She instantly became hooked and has since finished ten of them. One morning, while she was out pounding the pavement, she daydreamed about shirts emblazoned with fast animals like the cheetah and pronghorn. “That would be cute!” she thought as her ipod music blared in her ears. “And animals with strength and stamina, too.” “And the shirts should be eco-friendly since they’re about wildlife.” “Ooo, and I could give a percentage to a charity, too!” And Fauna Extreme was born.
